“Ascribe to the Lord the glory of His name” (Psalm 96:8).
As a retired medical technologist living in Birmingham, Alabama, Karen is proud of her 32 years of work in laboratory medicine and cancer research, yielding numerous peer-reviewed journal articles.
She and her husband, Parky, lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana, early in their marriage before moving back to their native roots of Alabama. They enjoy the company of big dogs, two of which were certified pet therapy dogs.
Giving back to the community, volunteering with hospices and animal shelters are a few of the things Karen enjoys.
Karen uses her musical talents as an organist/pianist to worship in her church, Jimmie Hale Mission, and on the mission field. She enjoys traveling around the world on short-term mission trips and for pleasure.
Writing was not something Karen pursued until she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Confronting Cancer with Faith is her first book. Since then, she has published many award-winning articles, devotionals, and short stories. Her latest book, Outta My Mind, Into His Heart, offers unique devotionals for the mental health community.
